Five players to watch out for this weekend in the EFL

I tried and failed last week to select five players to have standout weekends in the EFL. So I'll try again. This time, I cover a midfielder pivotal to a high-flying Championship side, a League One winger making a goal-scoring impression, and a League Two striker trying to help a "dead man walking".

Last week I tried to pick five players I thought would thrive. For someone who claims to know a fair bit about the EFL, I was miles off, to be honest.

I claimed Deji Elerewe could shine against Sheffield United; Lincoln City conceded three. Leo Scienza, who I backed to dominate the south coast derby, was hooked after 57 minutes as others grabbed the headlines.

In League One, I fancied Cameron Humphreys to dominate the midfield. He didn’t play badly by any means, but midfield partner Archie Collins stole the show instead with two assists. I thought Leicester City would pick off Peterborough United and that Emil Riis would play a big part. In fairness, Riis did score, but a 3-1 home defeat rendered my prediction a failure.
